In January 2019, Woodbridge police charged Nijer Parks with a number of offenses, including aggravated assault and store robbery. But according to Parks, he had never even been to this city.

After learning that an arrest warrant had been issued for him, the man went to the Woodbridge police station to investigate the situation. But the police did not even listen to him, but simply arrested him. After interrogation, Nijer spent ten days in prison.

The court ordered the release of the suspect, since the prosecutor did not have any evidence against him, except for the fact that there was a match in the database of persons.

The man later found out that the police used software to search for suspects. Clearview AI. This is a controversial facial recognition system using machine learning technologies.

Nijer Parks filed a lawsuit against Woodbridge police, the prosecutor's office, the mayor and the county jail. And the use of Clearview AI was banned in 2020 after a review and analysis of the system’s operation.

Channel 4 подчеркивают, что главной целью этой искусственной речи, созданной с помощью deepfake, является «серьезное предупреждение», а именно – открытие потенциала фальшивых новостей и подставных доказательств, с помощью которых можно манипулировать человеческим сообществом.
