Independent filmmakers in Georgia created the Institute Georgian cinema, presenting it yesterday at the Tbilisi International Film Festival. This organization was founded by film professionals who opposed censorship and declared a boycott of the Ministry of Culture. More than 500 filmmakers have united at the Institute.
Georgian filmmakers protest to the Cinema Institute
Georgian filmmakers are protesting the reorganization of the National Film Center, an institution that has been creating, financing and presenting films at international festivals for two decades.

According to protesters, the Georgian authorities are seeking to take over the previously independent organization. The main slogan of filmmakers opposing the reorganization is – “Georgian cinema is in danger”. Protesters accuse the Ministry of Culture of censorship through changes in management and dismissal of employees.
