Georgia leads in reduction of air travel in Europe

Georgia is leading the decline in air travel among European countries. The number of flights in Europe has decreased by 6.5 million flights over the past year, the report writes. Eurocontrol (European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation), write Georgia news.

In Georgia in 2020, the number of flights decreased by 74%, or 34,000 flights. This figure is due to the small number of domestic flights and the almost complete ban on regular international flights in Georgia during the pandemic.

Also, a decline in the number of flights is being recorded around the world. Eurocontrol says flights will recover as coronavirus vaccines are distributed.

Germany (- 1.2 million flights, - 56%)

Spain (- 1.0 million flights, - 61%)

France (- 853 thousand flights, - 54%)

Italy (- 797 thousand, - 60%)
