According to preliminary results of electronic voting calculations, Nika Melia was elected as the next chairman of the National Movement of Georgia by party members.
The winner will be confirmed by the party congress, which will take place on December 27, 2020.
The National Movement nominated two candidates for the post of party chairman – Niku Melia and Levan Varshalomidze. According to preliminary data, Nika Melia won with a 40% advantage.

On December 15, it became known that Grigol Vashadze left the National Movement.
“I cannot tolerate the appearance of such odious figures around the party and within it, as we have been for a long time, as if we are a thing of the past and with whom, I repeat, we will never win the trust of voters.”

Grigol Vashadze also noted that it is impossible not to cause deep indignation at the campaign of attacks and insults against the heads of diplomatic missions of the countries of strategic allies.
